Get set for second running of popular event at lough shore!
This year sees the second running of the Loughshore 10k run which starts and finishes at the scenic Maghery country park on the southern shores of Lough Neagh on Saturday 25th August 2012 at 2pm.
Organised by Sean Mac Dermotts GAA club in Maghery the route takes in a fairly flat course which passes along the side of the well known Peatlands park and runs alongside the M1 motorway towards the Birches before heading back towards Maghery for the finish.
For participants that don’t fancy a distance of 10k there is also a 5k run and the option to walk the 5k route also. The 10k run kicks off the afternoon at 2pm with the 5k events following behind.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Brendan Crealey from the organising committee commented “The event was very popular last year with over 300 entrants over the three catagories from all over Northern Ireland.We were particularly pleased with the amount of local people who supported us by doing the 5k walk.The event allows people of all abilities to get out and compete.For beginners running is a great way of both getting and keeping fit” “We are looking forward to welcoming back the many athletes who promised to return for this years event.”
