McDonnell penalty miss proves costly for Killeavy against determined Maghery side in SFC clash

Maghery’s superior finishing earned them a place in the last four of the Armagh SFC at Abbey Park yesterday, Sunday, August 19th when they won a close encounter on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-10.
In the end a Stevie McDonnell penalty miss in the 31st minute proved decisive in the end as Maghery held on for a two points win 0-12 to 0-10.
The South Armagh side were down to 14-men at the start of the second-half when corner-back Karl O’Hare was sent off. Stefan Forker and Eamon Robinson kept the Maghery side ahead but Killeavy rallied with five unanswered points from county star, Stevie McDonnell from frees between the 42nd and 53rd minutes. Mark Stanfield missed out on the lead as the Lough Shoremen went on to win thanks to points from Eamon Robinson and Seamus Forker.
Maghery scorers were – Stefan. Forker 0-5, three frees; E. Robinson 0-2, Seamus. Forker 0-2, J. Lavery, C. Forker and E. Cusack 0-1 free each.
Killeavy scorers were S. McDonnell 0-6, all frees; M.Stanfield 0-3, one free, G. Reel 0-1.
