Letter from Chris Brown
25 April 2003
25th April 2003
John a chara,
Just a note to thank Maghery GAC for your generosity and attention given to our Derry Minor team on the occasion of your pitch opening on the 13th., April. We appreciate that you wanted to acknowledge our achievements in winning the All Ireland title in 2002.
All the players and management wish you good luck in the future and I’m sure that your team, for many a day, will enjoy playing on a terrific surface in such well finished surroundings.
Our mentors appreciated the instant medical facilities available on the day when our big midfielder had to be ‘stretchered’ off, he still awaits final diagnosis on his injured knee. We regret that we couldn’t stay longer to enjoy the hospitality because of this setback.
On a personal note, I congratulate yourself and your committee for the co-operation and attention to detail of your members that was evident during our visit.
I believe that Maghery supporters can justly state: “One life—One club” when I witnessed that everyone in the parish young and old were involved in some capacity, and all their needs were catered for.
You really do underscore the belief that the Gaelic Athletic Association is more than the parish team playing a match on a Sunday. I saw that your clubhouse welcomes the family and visitors in equal measure.
I wish you the good luck and successful conclusions that your vision and hard work undoubtedly deserve.
Is mise le meas, Chris Brown Derry Minor Manager
